The Mid-Atlantic Fisheries Management Council has the primary responsibility for managing the fisheries in the Exclusive Economic Zone (from 3 to 200 miles out) in the region off the states of North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey and New York. Voting members are from these six states plus Pennsylvania and the National Marine Fisheries Service. The fisheries management plans that the Mid-Atlantic Council has primary responsibility for are Scup, Sea Bass, Summer Flounder, Surf Clams/Ocean Quahogs, Squid/Mackerel/Butterfish, and Bluefish. |
